Miranda Thomas, Potter (continued)
I believe for hand-made pottery to survive in this technological world in which machines and computers are used in place of human labor to cut costs and speed up production, it must concentrate on the things that a machine could never reproduce—those elements that can only be created by a human hand. That is why I focus on throwing, hand molding and decorating, and the feelings they emit.

Mixing clays, colors, shapes and symbols, I can achieve a variety of feelings in pots. What excites me most by using different clays and colors, is the mixing of their associations, cultures, and histories. It is rather like blending countries and customs and creating hybrid. As a result, my pots reflect today’s international intertwining of people’s customs and pasts.
