Wood Turning and Carving

This beautiful bowl (right) was turned by hand by Dennis DeCoff, Sr., in the ShackletonThomas workshop and is made from locally grown Vermont maple.

The bowl was turned from a section of a whole “green” log and then allowed to dry slowly. Slightly uneven and oval shapes result from this process and add to the unique quality of these pure and simple forms.

The work of the craftsman’s hand brings a quality that no machine can match. We think that there is a value in creativity and freedom over the fixed and standardized. Each piece in our accessories collection is shaped by hand with the same attention to detail and quality that is the mark of our furniture and pottery. We hope you enjoy using them as much as we have enjoyed making them.
