Master Upholsterer and Furniture Maker
Seven-Year Journeyman’s Bowl 2005
Four-Year Apprentice Spoon 2002

Art joined ShackletonThomas in 1998, pursuing an interest in making things by hand and mastering its challenges. He started his training in the accessories department, before moving upstairs to be trained in upholstery, where he has stayed ever since. Art is unique as an upholsterer, in that he not only upholsters pieces but also makes pieces from start to finish that require upholstery. Art especially loves working on the Sophia’s Chair and pieces that feature hand-tied springs, as well as custom pieces that allow him to tackle new challenges.

Outside of the upholstery studio, Art spends his time hunting, fishing, and checking out local flea markets. He also has a love for wildlife photography, and displays his work along the walls of the upholstery studio, which is open for visitors to the workshops, so be sure to come check out his little gallery!
