Anna Liffey Bed
Made By Hand in Vermont
The Anna Liffey Bed is a masterpiece of rhythmic design and historical resonance, meticulously handcrafted in our Bridgewater, Vermont workshop. This piece serves as a cornerstone of a furniture line inspired by a singular chair Charles Shackleton discovered in his family’s flour mill in Ireland many years ago.
By extrapolating the signature "fork back" detail of that original chair, we have created a stunning, expansive headboard and footboard that anchor the bedroom with soulful artistry.
Features & Craftsmanship
-
Iconic "X" Motif: The bed features an intricate, repeating fork-back pattern that creates a beautiful visual rhythm across the headboard and footboard.
-
Evolution of Design: This piece demonstrates how our core design vocabulary—including the fork back, signature curls, and specific leg styles—can be adapted into new, inspired variations.
-
Sweeping Profile: Unlike more rigid iterations, the Anna Liffey Bed features a gently outward-curving headboard and footboard, adding a sense of movement and traditional grace to the silhouette.
-
Solid Hardwood Construction: Typically crafted from premium American cherry, the bed highlights the natural warmth and depth of the timber, which matures into a rich patina over time.
-
Heirloom Joinery: Built using traditional mortise and tenon joinery, this bed is a durable work of art engineered for lifelong stability.
-
Artisanal Hardware: The footboard is accented with substantial solid brass bolt covers, a functional and decorative hallmark of our workshop's attention to detail.
The Anna Liffey Bed is more than a place of rest; it is a link to Irish heritage and a testament to the enduring beauty of handmade Vermont furniture.
