Woodland Creatures Porcelain Coupe Platter 13"
Made By Hand in Vermont
Porcelain Coupe Platter – Stag & Doe, and Friends
Hand-thrown by Eric Moore | Decorated by Miranda Thomas
This 13" porcelain coupe platter is a study in restraint, movement, and quiet mastery. Hand-thrown by Eric Moore, the curved coupe platter offers a contemporary canvas for Miranda Thomas’s expressive, freehand decoration.
Carved directly into the wet clay, Miranda depicts a stag and doe in spring, captured through subtle, dancing strokes that feel both spontaneous and deeply intentional. The figures emerge from the porcelain and their presence suggested rather than declared. The composition evokes a sense of stillness and renewal which echoes the poetic simplicity of the earliest porcelain wares of Tang dynasty China.
This platter is finished in a soft, blue-white clear glaze achieved through a reduction kiln atmosphere. The glaze pools gently within the incised marks, bringing dimension to the scene while preserving the purity of the porcelain body. There is a depth that enhances every carved line.
Sublime and contemplative, this platter functions beautifully as a serving piece or as a wall-mounted work of art.
