Chateauguay Bowfront Sideboard
Made By Hand in Vermont
The Chateauguay Sideboard—pronounced “shat-uh-ghee”—is a masterwork of elegant proportion and artisanal detail, handcrafted in our Bridgewater, Vermont workshop. Named after a nearby land preserve accessible only by foot, this piece reflects our shared Vermont values regarding forest health and the preservation of natural beauty.
This design marries the "leggy" grace of a traditional bowfront with the expansive storage capacity of our larger sideboards, representing one of our most detailed offerings for the dining room.
Features & Craftsmanship
-
Solid Hand-Shaped Curved Drawers: The central drawer stack features a graceful bowfront silhouette, with each drawer face meticulously hand-shaped to achieve its smooth, organic curve.
-
Adjustable Cupboard Storage: Flanking the central drawers are two spacious cupboards, each containing an adjustable shelf to accommodate a variety of serving pieces or linens.
-
Applied Bead Detailing: A fine applied bead surrounds the doors and drawers, providing a refined architectural transition that highlights the precision of the handmade construction.
-
Hand-Cut Dovetail Joinery: Every drawer is built with authentic hand-cut dovetails, a hallmark of superior joinery that ensures the sideboard remains structurally sound for generations.
-
Solid Brass Hardware: The piece is punctuated by polished solid brass handles and knobs, serving as both functional structural elements and sophisticated decorative accents.
-
Graceful Tapered Legs: The sideboard is elevated by tall, slender tapered legs and a curved lower apron, creating an airy, light-filled presence despite its substantial storage capacity.
The Chateauguay Sideboard is a durable work of art, typically crafted from premium solid American cherry to develop a rich, warm patina that honors its forest origins.
