This is a "living" piece of furniture that celebrates the natural biography of the tree from which it came.

Design & Material Story

This console table is defined by its dramatic material juxtaposition, featuring two of the most characterful woods found in the American landscape.

• The Black Locust Top: Chosen for its legendary density and rugged beauty, the top is composed of two "live-edge" slabs of Black Locust. The center gap allows the wood to breathe, while the natural bark-edge remains intact, offering a tactile, primordial connection to the outdoors.

• The Walnut Bridges: To unify the split top, dark Walnut "straps" are expertly inlaid across the surface. This functional joinery becomes a major visual element, providing a rhythmic, modern counterpoint to the organic edges of the locust.

• Sculptural Walnut Base: The top rests upon a pair of sweeping, U-shaped curved legs. These legs showcase the Shackleton signature of steam-bending or precision-shaping wood into fluid, architectural forms. The deep, chocolate tones of the Walnut base provide a sophisticated anchor for the honey-hued locust above.
