The Lydia's Arm Chair represents a foundational moment in our workshop's history, as the very first chair designed by Charles Shackleton for his original 1986 collection. Originally known as the "Upholstered Arm Chair" to distinguish it from the woven-seated Cottage line, this piece was an immediate success and has remained our most popular chair for over 35 years. Recently renamed to honor the Shackleton family—specifically Charlie’s great-aunt, a botanical illustrator, and his younger sister—this chair brings a storied Irish heritage and timeless Vermont craft to any setting.

The design is celebrated for its versatility, appearing equally at home in formal dining rooms or casual daily spaces.
