Medium Vase with 24K Gold Painted Wheat
Details
Gold takes on the shininess of the surface underneath it. Here on this classic vase (thrown on the wheel, and dipped simply in a "Jun" glaze, leaving the clay exposed on the outside), I painted 24K gold onto the already fired stoneware surface. Once fired again, the gold gives off an ancient feel, like the symbol of the wheat itself. -MT
