Naked Chair
Made By Hand in Vermont
The Naked Chair is a study in purposeful minimalism and radical transparency, meticulously handcrafted in our Bridgewater, Vermont workshop. Originally conceived as a community sustainability project, this design was first introduced alongside the Naked Table as part of a series of workshops where local participants built their own heirloom furniture. Today, we offer this same celebrated design to our customers, maintaining a strict chain of custody that honors the journey from the forest to your home.
The chair’s design is defined by its structural honesty and connection to the Vermont landscape:
Features & Craftsmanship
-
Sustainably Sourced Vermont Maple: Each chair is crafted from locally grown and harvested Vermont Maple, chosen for its incredible strength and clean, luminous grain.
-
Radical Transparency: We maintain a rigorous "chain of custody" for every piece, ensuring a direct and ethical link from the managed forest through harvesting and woodworking to the end user.
-
Honest Architectural Lines: The design features a broad, solid wood backrest and clean-lined legs that highlight the organic beauty of the timber without unnecessary ornamentation.
-
Ergonomic Wood Seat: The solid maple seat is hand-shaped with a gentle contour, providing surprising comfort and showcasing the continuous flow of the natural wood grain.
-
Masterful Joinery: Built using traditional woodworking techniques, the frame is engineered for lifelong durability and reflects the "human feeling" of a piece made with intention.
-
Natural Hand-Rubbed Finish: Every surface is hand-finished to a silky-smooth luster, protecting the wood while allowing its natural character to deepen over time.
The Naked Chair is more than a seat; it is a durable work of art and a testament to the power of sustainable, community-focused craft.
