Triple Kitchen Dresser
Made By Hand in Vermont
The Triple Kitchen Dresser is a magnificent architectural centerpiece that anchors the home with its generous proportions and masterful Vermont craftsmanship. This expansive design reflects Charles Shackleton’s enduring philosophy regarding the versatility of the kitchen dresser:
“Dressers, apart from being popular items these days hold a surprising amount and variety of stuff. In Ireland, where I am from, everything from chickens to the family’s papers, was stored in the kitchen dresser. That is, of course, apart form the usual collection of pottery and glass”.
The Triple Kitchen Dresser is distinguished by its intricate hand-work and vast storage capacity:
Features & Craftsmanship
-
Twelve-Pass "Berry" Dentil Molding: A hallmark of our workshop, each individual "berry" on the dentil molding beneath the crown is painstakingly created by twelve separate passes with a carving chisel, showcasing the high-relief "human touch" of our master carvers.
-
Glazed Display Upper Case: The upper hutch features three four-pane glazed doors, housing two adjustable wooden shelves in each section—complete with plate grooves for the elegant display of pottery and glass.
-
Substantial Lower Storage: The lower case provides a solid foundational anchor with three drawers and three paneled doors, containing one full-length adjustable shelf to accommodate a wide variety of household items.
-
Hand-Cut Dovetail Joinery: All three drawers are constructed with authentic hand-cut dovetails, ensuring lifelong structural integrity and serving as a testament to traditional joinery.
-
Applied Bead Detailing: A fine applied bead surrounds the doors and drawers, providing a refined architectural transition and highlighting the piece's superior construction.
-
Hand-Turned Hardware: Each drawer and door is fitted with custom hand-turned wooden knobs, offering a tactile, organic connection to the maker's hand.
The Triple Kitchen Dresser is a durable work of art, typically crafted from premium solid American cherry to develop a rich, warm patina that will be cherished for generations.
