Ricardo Barstool

The Ricardo Barstool represents the evolution of one of our most popular chair designs, reimagined for the modern counter and bar. Defined by an unembellished form and gently shaped transitions, this stool showcases the maker’s touch through hand-planed surfaces and a softly beaded apron. Its distinctive broad, arching back is achieved through traditional steam-bending, creating our most modern silhouette while maintaining timeless comfort.

Handcrafted in our Vermont workshop, the Ricardo Barstool is built to endure. The signature slip seat is expertly constructed with a solid hardwood frame and layered with natural horsehair, cotton, and Dacron® for firm, lasting support. Named in honor of Charles’s ancestor, the Regency-era economist David Ricardo, this piece synthesizes years of design research into a stool that is as economically sensible in style as it is beautiful in execution.

The stool is available in American Black Cherry or American Black Walnut in two sizes: a 24" Counter Height for 36" counters or a 30" Bar Height for 42" bars. Key design features include the steam-bent seat back, hand-planed surfaces, and a bead detail on the skirt. For upholstery, the traditional slip seat requires 3/4 yard of 54" wide fabric for every two stools.
